You can bend the river to your will
You think you're godlike when the day is done
You think your brilliance can outshine the sun

The night is fading and it's closing in
A lighted candle cannot save the day
The jagged shadows that are closing in
Won't go away

You use machinery to exert your will
You split the atoms til you've had your fill
You're killing nature just to have some fun
You're disappointed when the workday's done

You own the world and say it's not enough
You say you're gentle but you play too rough
You keep consuming to fulfill a need
You call it business but it's really greed
